The object presented is Nicolaus Copernicus’s “De revolutionibus orbium coelestium” (“On the revolutions of the heavenly spheres”), which was first printed in 1543. To me, this fundamental work symbolises the drastic switch which one simple idea can cause in the values treasured for hundreds of years.
This object is a vinyl by John Lennon and Yoko Ono containing their peace anthem, “Give Peace a Chance”, which was life-changing for me when I first heard it as a child and it contributed a lot to shaping my core values.
This object is a book written by Marie Stopes, entitled “Married Love”, which I’ve become interested in after my good friend said that, despite being printed in 1918, the book still remains relevant – at least in terms of understanding the conditions and expectations held of women at the time.
