The equation defining the Mandelbrot set was first visualized by researcher Benoit Mandelbrot almost 50 years ago, in 1980. The Mandelbrot set is an infinitely detailed fractal on the complex plane. This equation is meaningful to me because it’s what started my fascination and interest in the concept of infinity in mathematics. To this day, I still remain fascinated with it’s infinite and intricate patterns.
My great-grandfathers WW II war medal remains one of the only physical remnants of him that I possess, and thats why its special. To think that one piece of decorated metal could hold so much emotional value, and represent a critical moment in somones life is what fascinates me here. Its quite literally a silent witness to a story that will never be fully told.
“Rotating snakes” is an optical illusion created by Akiyoshi Kitaoka in 2003. For me, this illusion especially stands out due to the geometrical and almost hypnotic pattern it forms. And even so, that pattern in detail remains inaccessible to the human eye. That inaccessibility is what drives my curiosity and fascination toward this object.
